The Poltimore Inn is set in the heart of North Molton on the southern edge of Exmoor and is considered to be the gateway to the moors in North Devon. A short drive from the North Devon link road, the Poltimore Inn is perfectly located for exploring both Exmoor and North Devon. Set opposite the village square, there is plenty of parking nearby and the village is welcoming and full of great characters that will always offer you a warm welcome.
Discovering Exmoor couldn’t be easier from the Poltimore Inn with the road taking you directly through Sandyway to Withypool in the heart of the moors, perfect for visiting Tarr Steps and exploring the River Barle. From Withypool, it is just a short drive to Wimbleball Lake or Dulverton, if you want to visit a stunning Exmoor town that has retained all of its character. Exford is always a popular village to visit with the River Exe running through and plenty of wide open spaces, a great place for a picnic.
There are a wide range of activities nearby, North Devon has a large number of fantastic golf courses with Portmore, just outside of Barnstaple being easy to reach. High Bullen and Bickington are nearby and the famous Saunton Golf Club is worth the trip as well as Royal North Devon and Ilfracombe.
If you want to combine both a rural break and a beach break, North Devon offers some of the best beaches in the country. Woolacombe is often listed as one of the best beaches in the world, Croyde has fantastic surf and Saunton is always popular with families that want fun in the sea with easy access.
